Augsburg is more than 2,000 years old and one of the oldest cities of Germany. Augsburg is the third-largest city of Bavaria and seat of the Swabian government. This city, which was founded by the Romans where the two rivers Lech and Wertach meet, used to play an important part throughout Europe up to the Industrialization. Prominent former citizens are the business magnate Jakob Fugger, the composer Leopold Mozart and the writer Bert Brecht.
